All, I just switched to Macs about 3 months ago, and my only real problem was that my Dell 1100 Laserprinter would not work at all with my Intel iMac - I searched MacRumors, Google, Yahoo! - you name it, I checked. Finally, though, I found a solution through an obscure blog comment (which I just happened to run by). If you have a Dell 1100, you can use the following link and download both programs and it will work: First, install both drivers, then go set up your printer as a Samsung ML-1210, and you should be good to go.
It worked for me at least! Update I know this is digging up an old thread from the dead, I recently purchased a MBP and soon after a Time Capsule. I was able to get my dell 1100 to print using the method above when the printer is hooked directly to the MBP via usb. After installing a Time Capsule and moving the printer to the USB port on there it now takes 25-30 minutes for a one page document to spool and print to the printer. Anyone else have a similar problem? Or suggestions for a solution?
The printer works fine via Time Capsule with Windows XP and Bonjour fyi. Success with Dell 1100 printer on 10.7.5 OS X Hey, After attempting to download CUPS and SPLIX drivers unsuccessfully, I went to odesk to hire someone with greater skills. That resulted in exploring 'that Dell is not supported by Mac.' Directly, it does seem futile.

Indirectly I have success. Upon searching Samsung's printers drivers download site, I found out that their Samsung ML-2010 photo is exactly the same image as my Dell 1100. So I went to my Mac Printer settings and choose that model as the Dell 1100 printer I had already installed and hit 'apply.'
I got the printer to work fine. No need to upload CUPS or Splix.
