Intel Xpdm Driver For Mac
Hi, I just installed windows 8 consumer preview on an old HP DV1310 laptop. Everything went perfect except from the Intel graphics driver. The car is mobile intel(R) 915gm/gms910gml express chipset family. Doing some research I found that W8 use WDMD driver for video, and old XPDM drivers are useless (even installing with XP/Vista/7 compatibility mode). Is there any way to get the graphic card working with W8? Any driver available?
Please help me since I would keep W8 and I'm very happy with it!!! First of all thank you Bob, Kees and Mark for your help. Point is that switching to W8 from XP I feel my laptop (HP DV1310 us with 2GB RAM) works much better, everything (like bluetooth) works faster and smoother and I really like the OS (believe it or not, I should be among the few who like W8 starting with CP:-)).
On the other hand the new OS demands less resources than XP (such as RAM, tested from the System Monitor) and works faster with Office2007 which is my main tool (heavy Excel and eventually light Access usage). I don't see the point in using Ubuntu to run W8, since that setup will use more resources and it is not compatible with Office (am I right?). As it has no driver for the graphics, I'm assuming there is some additional power not being used (please correct me if I'm wrong). At least for visual effects -not Aero. Moreover, the laptop does not Sleep and the fun is continuously on (beyond the annoying sound, I assume the processor is overheated all the time, even when Sys Mon shows no activity) which makes me wonder about temperature risks.
Thank you again, hope this will help you understand my concerns. Any help will be appreciated, regards, Santiago.
Windows 95 supported only VxD drivers, which no Windows in the NT line (NT 3.1, 3.5, 3.51, 4, 2000, XP, Vista) support. Windows 98 supported both WDM and VxD. WDMs are the only supported driver model in 2000 and XP. If written well, a WDM driver from Windows 98 could work on Vista, b ut it is highly unlikely that hardware that runs with Windows 98 would be used in a Vista computer anyway. Also, certain components, such as the print spooler, have been totally rewritten for Vista, and thus the drivers do not work anymore. Vista-specific drivers also provide better performance.

You need to reword your question. I am assuming that you are asking which motherboards for Intel chips support the most RAM. I say this because Intel manufactures a super limited number of motherboards; moreover, these motherboards are not considered to be top notch compared to major brands such a s ASUS or GIGABIT. ASUS, for instance, makes motherboards that support Intel and AMD chips - to put it simply. Now on to the second part of your question. 'which support the most RAM' Sadly, this question is poor too: you could be asking 'how much RAM' or 'how many different types of RAM' Because of this dilemma, I will answer both.
Most Intel-based motherboards hold up to 8 Gigabytes of RAM, and some can hold up to 32 Gigabytes depending on make. Now, any one motherboard only 'supports' one type of RAM; meaning, that the motherboard runs optimally on that very specific RAM type, but that's not to say that it can't use other RAM types in the same family (SDRAM, for instance), it just wont be able to take full advantage of the other types.
